GLORIA JEAN GRASSI ZEMBAR Gloria Jean Grassi Zembar went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 14 2025 at her home and was welcomed into the arms of her mother & father, Joanne (King) and James A. Grassi, Sr., who preceded her in death. Gloria was the loving wife of Edward M. Zembar, whom she married on September 18, 1982 at the Masontown Brethren Church. They would have celebrated their 43rd anniversary on the 18th. She was the oldest of three children and is survived by her sister and best friend, Diane (Dan) Moser and brother & best friend Jim (Mary) Grassi, sister-in-law Linda (James) Selby and her loving dachshund, Maizee June. Gloria is also survived by nephews & nieces Brent (Tracey), Justin (Rachel), Dan (Katrina), Derek (Cortney), Jarred (Samantha) and Cody. Great nephews & nieces Turner, Bobby, Kendall, Kolby, Karleigh, Maximus & Caden and two honorary sisters, Tootsie & Mickey. Gloria was born on January 4, 1954 and attended Kolb Elementary and High School through her 11th grade year, at which time the school closed. She graduated from Albert Gallatin Senior High School in 1971. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the VFW Post 747 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Pt. Marion as well as the Masontown Fish & Game Club. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a member of DAR, the Daughters of the American Revolution. Gloria held many jobs in her career starting at the Masontown Shirt Factory. She also worked at CigTap in Carmichaels, Warchinsky’s Glass Factory in Morgantown & finally working in the Payroll Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital for 22 years, until the time of her retirement. Gloria was known as the family historian, tracking her maternal family tree back to the days of Thomas Jefferson. She was always able to answer any questions related to both sides of her family tree. Gloria loved to do all types of crafts and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing games while snacking on her favorite candies. Gloria’s family would like to thank the staff of Masontown Amedisys for all of the care and kindness that was extended to Gloria; especially Amanda & Vickie. Family and friends will be received at the John S. Maykuth, Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, PA on Tuesday, September 16th from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 17th from 10 until 11 a.m. the hour of Service in the Funeral Home chapel with Pastor French Jenkins officiating. Interment follows at Greendale Cemetery in Masontown, PA. |
