PAULINE S. SKALA OZANICH

Pauline S. “Sonja” Ozanich, 84, of McClellandtown, PA passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, in the Uniontown Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born in German Township, on July 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Provaznik Skala Sr.

She was a graduate of German High School, Class of 1958. Pauline was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish formerly St. Mary’s (OLPH) Catholic Church, Leckrone, Masontown, PA and a member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society and First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

She enjoyed being outside in the summer tending her flowers and seeing many different animals coming down out of the woods. She also enjoyed listening to Polkas on the radio, watching Polka dances on T.V. and going to dances with her husband and family. She loved baking pies and rolls for the holidays; Bobalky for Christmas supper and Raisin Bread for Easter.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Frank F. Ozanich; brothers: Paul P., Ralph Jr., John P., Andrew, Joseph and Louis Skala; sisters: Ann Chetosky, Mary Holob and Margaret Bartyczak.

She is survived by her brother, Stephen Skala of High House; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Skala of Smithfield; her godchildren: Joanne Gatti, Teresa (Terry) Kuehmeier and John Bartyczak; her adopted godchildren: Dianne Irby, Mark Bartyczak and Meg Jobson; many devoted nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers, Sherry Kennedy and Dianne Irby.

Family would like to give a special thank you to Deandra and Margaret of Twin Oaks for their loving care.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and until 9:30 a.m. on Friday, when prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Masontown with Reverend Teo Cortezano as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, PA.
