WILLIAM JEROME GARCHER, SR.
William Jerome Garcher, Sr. 83, of Winnsboro, SC passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at White Oak Manor Lancaster, SC.
He was born in Liberty, WV on March 10, 1942, the son of the late George and Helen M. (Yanchus) Garcher. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Micheal G. Garcher and several brothers and sisters.
He attended grade school at St. Mary’s Leckrone, PA and graduated from German Township High School Class of 1960 and California State College in 1965 with a Bachelors of Science (Chemistry and Biology).
He served in the U.S. Marines as a LCp1 in the Vietnam War. National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*.
Bill spent 32 years as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. He was an active member in the following organizations: Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown, PA, VFW Post 4584, American Legion Post 423, Marine League, D A V, V V A. He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Masontown, PA and St. Michael in Great Falls, SC.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sandra Lee (Hlebinsky) Garcher, children: Michele Cummings and husband George of Huntington, WV; William Garcher, Jr. and wife Rena of Clayton, NC and Jennifer Barber and husband Justin of Archer Lodge, NC; and grandchildren:
Abigail, Ellison, Lillian, Cassandra and Troy and his brother and sister.
Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Masontown, PA on Tuesday, March 18 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 19 from 9 until 9:30
a.m. when Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown, PA. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery,
Masontown, PA with US Marine Corps Honor Guard and Masontown VFW Post 4584 and Masontown American Legion Post 423 Honor Guard.
