Alice Richnafsky, 94, of Gates passed away on April 11, 2024 at home.

She was born in Palmer, PA on September 6, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Lucas) Bobincheck.

Alice attended German Township High School and later received her G.E.D. Diploma. She was employed at the Fayette County Courthouse for 4 years, and owned and operated the Sunbelievable Tanning Salon in McClellandtown, PA.

She was married on July 8, 1950 to John Richnafsky at St. Albert’s R.C. Church in Palmer and was a member of the former St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Gates. She was a certified C.C.D. teacher for 16 years in the Greensburg Diocese, a member of the Gates Rosary Society and was active in all of the church fund raising events. She was an election day poll worker for 12 years and really enjoyed seeing her old friends and neighbors as they came to vote.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband John Joseph Richnafsky , son John E. Richnafsky, daughter-in-law Mary Kay Richnafsky; brothers: William, Joseph, George and Edward Bobincheck; nephew Leonard Bobincheck, nieces Carol Ann and Susan Bobincheck and her beloved little terrier, Buffy.

Alice is survived by her son, Thomas B. Richnafsky of McClellandtown, PA; grandson Thomas M. Richnafsky and wife Samantha of Gates, PA; brothers Leonard Bobincheck of Fair Oaks, PA and Donald Bobincheck and wife Penny of Matthews, North Carolina, daughter-in-law Lynn Richnafsky of McClellandtown, PA , many nieces and nephews and her grand dog Lady.

She loved baking, sewing, quilting, crocheting and numerous other crafts. If you paid Alice a visit, she made certain that you took home one of her baked treats. One of the highlights of her life was preparing holiday dinners for her family and she always said that her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a polka person and, in the past, went to the dances with a group of friends and had a great time. Alice enjoyed playing bingo and also assisted the McClellandtown Fire Department with their bingo games. She was loved by all and a kinder person you’ll never meet.

Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Ave., Masontown, Pa., on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, PA with Father Anthony Cortado officiating. Interment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
