AURA (BURCHIANTI) LOZAR

Aura (Burchianti) Lozar, 99, of Masontown, PA, passed away on November 19, 2023 at LaFayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown, PA.

She was born in Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Pisa, Italy on May 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Raffaello and Celestina (Gennai) Burchianti.

Aura graduated from Masontown High School with the Class of 1942 and married Steve Lozar on June 16, 1948. She was the proprietor of a children’s clothing store in Masontown for many years and later worked for the Masontown newsstand on Main Street where she greeted everyone with her warm smile and vibrant personality. Aura was an outstanding baker, renowned among her friends and relatives for her homemade pizzelles, pies and desserts which she gave as gifts to many.

Aura was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church, now St. Francis of Assisi, and Friends of the Library. She worked many years for the Fall Festival and for many years served as the President of The Italian Ladies Circle.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Steve Lozar and twin brothers, Mario and Robert Burchianti and sister-in-law Margaret (Robert) Burchianti.

Aura was extremely proud of all of her nieces and nephews. Surviving to cherish the memory of dear Aunt Aura are Ralph (Valerie F.) Burchianti, Richard (Joyce) Burchianti, Valerie (Steve) Johnson, Steven (Triana) Burchianti, Robert V. (Karin) Burchianti, Claudia A. (Marco) Mendoza, Elaine (Randy) Kopich, David Burchianti, John (Debbie) Lozar, Louis (Toni) Lozar, Mary Ellen (Don) Swaney, Sharon (Gerry) Kelly an sister-in-law Margaret H. (Mario) Burchianti.

Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, PA on Monday, November 27 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church, Masontown, PA with Father Dick Anthony Cortado as Celebrant.

Interment follows at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
