DORIS JEAN HUTZEL

Doris Jean (Bryan) Hutzel, age 95, of McClellandtown, PA. passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born on October 28, 1928, daughter of James L. and Ruth E. (Ball) Bryan. On July 2, 1949, she began her 66-year marriage to Michael Harvey Hutzel.

Doris graduated from German Township High School class of 1946. She began her career working at SS Kresge’s making hoagies and retired from Kmart as resident assistant manager after 26 1/2 years. Doris was a 74-year member of the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church.

She greatly enjoyed Sunday family dinners, sitting on the porch watching hummingbirds, trips to Wheeling Island Casino, watching the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins on television and the Golden Girls, Dateline and Family Feud.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother William “Bill” Bryan and sister-in-law Dolores M. (Munzak) Bryan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Michael B. Hutzel (Donna A. Tomasco) of Oak Island, NC; Jean Ann (Jerome) Padlo of Masontown, PA; Peggy L. (James) Patitucci of McClellandtown, PA; grandchildren: Aaron M. (Michele) Hutzel of Canonsburg, PA; Jeri Ann (Michael) Turner of McClellandtown, PA: Ian G. Hutzel of Morgantown, WV; Joshua J. (Melissa) Patitucci of Vanderbilt, PA and Allison M. Hutzel of Morgantown, WV; great grandchildren: James E. Hutzel, Bailey A. Turner, Lucinda G. Hutzel, Jacoby A. Hutzel, Miles M. Patitucci, Oliver G. Patitucci and Parker A. Patitucci; sister Shirley (John) Kirchner of Perryopolis, PA; sister-in-law Betty Lou (Willis) Brooks of Canonsburg, PA; Rose (Bruce) Whoolery of Uniontown, PA; Nancy Platz of North Port, FL and Ruth Hutzel of Uniontown, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Amedisys Masontown Care Center Staff for being so compassionate and caring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in memory of Doris, be made to the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church, 292 Springer Road, PO Box 66, McClellandtown, PA 15458.

Family and friends will be received at the John S. Maykuth Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, PA on Tuesday, November 21st from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. and Wednesday, November 22nd from 10 until 11 a.m. the hour of service in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Reverend Rebecca Abbott and Reverend Gary Workman officiating. Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, PA.
